Details

Woven by hand from rattan using wicker in a spiral from the center out, each tray has a low, round shape and two wooden dowel handles, bound to the rim with rattan, that make it easy to lift from a shelf and carry to the table. It is made for the small rituals of a home: tea and a few mugs, a bowl of fruit on the counter, bread and napkins at the table, keys and mail by the door. Warm in tone and rich in texture, it adds quiet warmth to a coffee table, an ottoman or a console without asking for attention. Use one size for one job, or keep all three together - they stack inside one another when not in use.

Texture In Japandi

In Japan, the mingel tradition found beauty in the humble objects of ordinary life: the plain bowl, the woven basket, the well-worn cloth.

Japandi pairs that instinct with Scandinavian calm, so natural texture does the quiet work that ornament does elsewhere. The result is a home that feels lived in, not staged in.

A single rattan stem can climb more than three hundred feet through the tropical forest canopy before it is cut by hand, sun-dried, and woven into something supple and strong. Smooth in the hand and warm in tone, rattan lifts a space with the ease of something that grew toward the light.

About This Piece

Arriving in a light, natural tone, the weave is both crisp and clean. It will not stay this way, however. With time, light, air, and daily use, the rattan warms and deepens towards amber and honey - a patina only time can give, and no two baskets reach it in quite the same way.

Hand-woven wicked to be used rather than kept pristine, it takes on the story of the home it lives in. Each season and each small routine leaves its mark, and the color you unpack is only the beginning.
